The Johnson Public Library is hosting its annual Haunted Library tonight, Oct. 23.

The library, located at 247 Main Street, will close at 3 p.m. to get a spooky makeover, then reopen from 7-8:30 p.m. for 15-minute tours.

“It’s our most popular program,” said Mari Zigas, acting head of the library's children’s room. “It’s the best day of the year. It’s a tradition here, where the whole staff gets involved.”

Guides dressed in ghoulish costumes will take children ages 7 to 12 on the tours.

Each room and department will have a different Halloween theme or character.

“We have old women with haunted dolls, a werewolf scene and three witches,” Zigas said.

The tour will conclude with a trip through a maze hidden with people waiting to pop out and frighten the youngsters.
